# SCOVT – Hire like a champion

## Hire like a champion.

In sport, picking the best player is never enough. Champions pick the players who make the team unbeatable. SCOVT is here to help you build your winning team.

### Someone can do the job and still be wrong for the company.

Interviews that lead nowhere. Hires who leave. Agencies that only send CVs. SCOVT is being built to check whether a person and a company would work well together, using software and experienced recruiters called Scouts. The service is not open yet.

**Sport Insight:** Professional sport solved this a long time ago. SCOVT brings the same thinking to hiring.

#### Where hiring costs your business the most

- Interviews with people who fit the CV but not the company.

- New hires who leave, and a search that starts again.

- Several agencies, several briefs, and no one checking the fit.

Where hiring time gets wasted

Resumes only vs. SCOVT match check

Example: hours wasted per job

Resumes only (10 interviews)
Example: most interviews wasted

**8 interviews:** Obvious mismatch in the room
**2 interviews:** Good match

With SCOVT (Only 3 interviews)
Example: hours saved

**3 interviews:** Meeting people who actually fit
Aim: fewer mismatched interviews

### Why SCOVT has Scouts

In professional sport, a scout does not just ask whether a player is good, but whether they are right for this team — and whether this team is right for the player. SCOVT brings that idea to work: the company is the team, the person brings skills, goals and a way of working, and the Scout looks at the relationship between them.

- Scouts use analytics to see where a person fits best.

Not just how good someone is, but where they play best, and in which team.

- The team of the best players is not the best team.

Stars who do not fit together lose to a side that does. A team of the best CVs works the same way.

- There is no bad person. There is a bad fit.

The same person can struggle in one company and thrive in another.

#### Who are SCOVT Scouts?

- A Scout is an experienced recruiter with their own network of candidates and long-term relationships with them — not a generalist in-house recruiter or a traditional agency.
- Scouts are chosen using SCOVT's own analytics and matching approach, overseen by a seasoned HR professional on our board. A formal certification programme is an idea for later, not something we are committing to yet.
- When a company wants a Scout's help, it picks one from a list showing their track record and area of expertise, and works with them directly.
- A Scout works with a candidate through the whole process — understanding their expectations, seeing where they fit, preparing them, and staying in touch after they are hired.
- Companies rate the Scouts they work with, and that score is visible across the platform. A Scout's pay is also tied to how the placement turns out, not just to making it.
- Long-term retention — the person staying and doing well — is the goal we are building the Scout's incentives around. We do not have data to show on this yet.

### What is SCOVT?

Lots of people send CVs. The hard part is knowing who will really fit.

SCOVT is a recruitment platform for companies tired of interviews that lead nowhere. Instead of opening a role to everyone and sorting through CVs yourself, your company describes the role and how your team works, and SCOVT's science-driven matching engine checks whether a person and your company would work well together before anyone books an interview. And an experienced recruiter we call a Scout talks to each candidate, checks the human side of the match, and presents you only the people who really fit.

A possible fit to explore together

SCOVT's matching engine checks if you will get along before you spend hours interviewing.

#### Fit is checked before you run interviews

SCOVT compares what the person and your company each need — how your team works, not just a CV against a job title — before you run any interviews.

#### You see why someone fits

Results are explainable, not a black-box score. SCOVT shows you what matched, what did not, and what is still worth discussing before you spend time interviewing.

### The relationship behind the match

A CV tells you what someone has done. It does not tell you how they will work with your manager, your team, and the way your company makes decisions — and that is usually why a hire does not last.

SCOVT starts with that relationship. Before anyone books an interview, SCOVT's matching engine compares what the person and your company each need, and an experienced recruiter we call a Scout checks the result with both sides. A good match is not about hiring people who are all alike. It is about people with different strengths being able to work well together.

Scouts know the human side of hiring in a way no data can; therefore, SCOVT aims to amplify their expertise with tools that show which people will work well together — and stay.

#### Science-driven by design

SCOVT combines established, peer-reviewed research in organizational culture, person–organization fit and psychometric measurement with current work on explainable AI and fairness in algorithmic assessment. Software does the comparing, using questions grounded in published research — so a result is explainable rather than a black-box score. Scouts then check the result with both sides.

It builds on published foundations in organizational culture, person–organization fit and psychometrics. Read the full answer: [Is SCOVT science-driven? →](#faq-section)

### Questions people ask us

#### What is SCOVT?

SCOVT is a recruitment platform built around a science-driven matching engine and experienced recruiters called Scouts. Your company describes the role and how your team works. SCOVT's matching engine compares what each candidate and your company need, and a Scout checks the result with both sides, so everyone gets a clear picture before you spend time interviewing.

#### Who is a Scout?

A Scout is a senior recruiter who uses SCOVT's analytics to see how a person fits into an organisation's culture. Think of a scout in professional sport. They look beyond "is this player good?" to "is this player right for this team, and is this team right for the player?" Our Scouts bring that eye to hiring, and their goal is long-term retention: someone still thriving in the team long after the offer is signed.

#### Is SCOVT science-driven?

Yes. SCOVT is a science-driven company: our questions, our scores and our comparison rules come from published research, and we can explain where a result comes from.

Our approach is grounded in peer-reviewed research on person–organization fit — how well a person and a workplace align — organizational culture, and psychometric measurement, combined with current work on explainable AI and fairness in algorithmic assessment. We follow published measurement theory, and we measure preferences with structured scales rather than open-ended self-description.

Every question, weight and threshold comes from a rule that is documented and fixed before we collect data. The methodology has been through an external methodological review, and the same analysis plan applies to every study round, so a round can be reproduced rather than reinterpreted after the fact. That is why a result can be traced back to the evidence behind it.

We do not use a black-box score that hides the reason behind a result. We do not pretend to read your personality, and we do not claim to know everything about you. Software does the comparing; Scouts then check the result with both sides.

#### What does SCOVT look at?

More than skills: how people communicate, make decisions, handle disagreements and work with a manager. On the company side, whether it can offer the work, support and room to grow that the person wants.

#### When does SCOVT open?

We are building it now. There is no opening date yet, and registering is the way to be first to hear when there is. It is free, it commits you to nothing, and you can withdraw at any time.

#### What happens to my details?

We use them to keep you posted about SCOVT's launch. You can withdraw at any time. See the privacy policy.
